Homemade Remedies for Asthma Treatment

Asthma is a very commonly seen lung disease characterized by difficulty that a person feels while breathing. There are two types of asthma problems, either acute or chronic. An asthma attack occurs when there is an obstruction in the passage of airflow into the lungs. An asthma attack can be very serious for you and even fatal if the disease is chronic.

There can be many causes of asthma such as allergies, environmental factors, genetics, smoke and tobacco, respiratory infections and some medicines. Symptoms of asthma may include shortness of breath or easy to lose your breath, frequent coughing, especially at night, feeling tired while doing any physical activity, wheezing and tightness in the chest.

There are many medical treatments available for asthma. Some medicines can have side effects. However, there are several simple home remedies that are very beneficial for the asthma patient. So, let’s see some simple and easy home remedies that can help you reduce asthma:

1. Ginger:

It is a well-known relaxant for asthma patients as it can reduce airway inflammation. It gives you a soothing effect, and prevents asthma attacks. In addition, it may increase the effect of some asthma medications and increase muscle relaxation. There are different ways to consume ginger:

You can eat it by mixing it with raw salt.

The same quantity of ginger juice, honey and pomegranate juice can be mixed and 1 teaspoon of this mixture is consumed thrice a day.

1 tsp. Ginger added to half a cup of water can be consumed at night.

2. Mustard Oil:

This is another good way to relax your respiratory tract. You should use mustard oil with a small amount of camphor and massage it gently on the chest and upper back so that they can get comfortable and restore normal breathing. It is particularly beneficial during asthma attacks and may help reduce symptoms immediately.

3. Coffee:

The caffeine content of coffee acts as a dilator of bronchial tissues and may help to clear the airways. In addition, hot coffee intake will reduce the airway and help you breathe properly. However, you should not consume more than 3 cups of strong coffee in a day because consuming too much caffeine is not good for health.

4. Garlic:

The use of garlic can help clear the airways and help you breathe properly. For best results, you have to boil about 15 cloves of garlic in milk (one half cup) and then drink it once a day.

5. Honey:

Honey intake is considered one of the oldest home remedies for asthma. Even the smell of honey is known to work wonders for some people and it is very advisable to try honey if you are having trouble breathing. Just mix 1 teaspoon of honey in a glass of water (hot) and drink it slowly. Repeat it at least three times a day for positive results.
